Virginia “Ginger” Lee Kohler

Seneca, SC — Virginia Lee Kohler “Ginger”, passed away peacefully at the Cottingham Hospice House on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. She was born in Bethesda, MD to the late Capt. H. E. “Nick” Nichols and the late Barbara Sherman Nichols. She met her husband, Otto C. Kohler, Jr. in Horsham, PA. They were married in 1971 and moved to Seneca, SC in 1972. Ginger was a graduate of St. John’s University and Southern Wesleyan University. She was a retired elementary teacher from the School District of Oconee County. She was an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.

 

While Ginger will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, sister, and mother, she will also be affectionately remembered as “Gigi” by her three grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother: Rev. Robert L. Nichols of Page, AZ.

 

She is survived by her husband: Otto Kohler, of Seneca; son: Chris Kohler (Jennifer) of West Union, SC; daughter: Jessica Finney (Carson) of Newton, NC; grandchildren: Paige Finney of Newton, NC, Ethan Kohler of West Union, SC, and Megan Finney of Newton, NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

The family wishes to thank the members of the Acts Sunday School class and the Deborah Circle of St Mark UMC, especially Debbie Hammett, Sarah Boylston, Nancy Evatt, and Marion Stillwell, as well as friends: Gail Joyner, Cheryl Stevens, Nancy Meehan, and Royce and Berta Ridings for their extreme kindness and generosity.

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca, SC.
