Vaccine numbers still hold better protection

Across Prisma Health’s Upstate and Midlands service area (including the Oconee Memorial Hospital at Seneca) there are new COVID-19 hospital numbers.  They were released today in tandem with a lengthy zoom conference that included multiple Prisma Health doctors.  By today, 628 people remained in the hospital.  Of that number, 22% are vaccinated; 78% are not.  Some of those patients, though still hospitalized, no longer test positive, according to the health care system.  To further explain, a Prisma spokeswoman adds, “Some patients continue to require care even after they’re past the infectious stage – for example, if they have complications tied to COVID infection.” Of the 628, ventilators are attached to 65.  Of those 65, eight are vaccinated; 57 are not.
