Understanding electric bill changes

As many as six Walhalla restaurateurs are said to be unclear as to what’s being required of them regarding grease traps and the like.  And yesterday the board of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority urged its executive director to better communicate rules covering the disposal of fats, oils and grease.  Another area where there is the need for better public understanding are the electric service billing changes now underway for many South Carolina customers.  Two of the state’s energy providers recently increased electric rates and an additional provider is seeking approval for an increase.  The Department of Consumer Affairs in Columbia wants to ensure consumers understand their electric utility bill.  The state agency is holding a free webinar at 10:30 tomorrow morning titled, “Understanding Your Electric Bill.  The presentation will walk consumers through utility bill examples, explain differing types of rates and charges, and provide an overview of what to do if you find an error on your bill.
