U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Announces 2024-2025 Hunting Areas at Hartwell Lake and Fant’s Grove

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, Hartwell Lake Project Office will open three large recreation areas in Georgia for hunting during the 2024-2025 season, in addition to seven areas within Fant’s Grove Wildlife Management Area in South Carolina. In Georgia, the Hartwell Dam Quarry Area (410 acres) will allow archery-only hunting for deer and turkey, while New Prospect Park (34 acres) and Jenkins Ferry Park (31 acres) will permit small game hunting with shotguns after deer and turkey seasons. These areas are accessible by foot or boat only, and portable stands must be removed by the end of the season. In South Carolina, hunting is allowed in seven designated areas within Fant’s Grove. These areas include South Carolina River (125 acres), Glenn Ferry Park (211 acres), Apple Island Park (107 acres), Townville Park (23 acres), Camp Creek Park (48 acres) in Anderson County, and Martin Creek Park (60 acres) and Choestoea Park (369 acres) in Oconee County. Hunting in these areas is managed according to South Carolina regulations, and information on licenses, seasons, and bag limits can be obtained through the SCDNR.
