Two separate incidents temporarily closed I-85

Separate high-speed chases temporarily closed parts of I-85 in northeast Georgia.  In those incidents, there were injuries and a death.  The Georgia State Patrol reported two people hurt just before the noon hour in a chase northbound that started near mile marker 173.  A 31-year-old Californian was identified as the driver of a Yukon that hit a guardrail and overturned.  An injured pregnant passenger was life-flighted; her unborn child did not survive. Within an hour later, a second chase took place — this one southbound. That one ended as smoke began to fill the pursued vehicle and a three-year-old child was found in the floorboard side with severe burns.  The child was flown to the Georgia burn center and the driver, an Anderson County, South Carolina man, was arrested on multiple charges.
