Two in protective custody after highway 28 area investigation

The charge of knowing and willful neglect of a vulnerable adult has been placed against a 68-year old Oconee woman – based on an investigation at a home in the vicinity of Halfway Branch.  Law enforcement records show the arrested woman, Carolyn R-F Coyle, and her address as Woodmarsh Lane.  The sheriff’s office released the following account:  “When the Deputy and DSS arrived on scene, the Deputy observed some structural issues with the residence and upon making entry inside the residence as well.  The Deputy observed bugs and trash inside of the home.  The Deputy and DSS observed the victim, an adult female, on the bed.  The Deputy observed trash, old food and feces inside the room where the victim was.  Additional Deputies arrived on scene and paramedics were called to the scene.  A Violent Crimes investigator was called to the scene and the School Resource Office, at the school that the juvenile attends, was also notified based on the observation by the responding Deputy.  In the child’s bedroom, the Deputy observed bugs and trash inside of the room.  Based on the conditions of the home, both the adult victim and the child were placed into Emergency Protective Custody by the responding Deputy.  The adult victim was transported to the hospital for further treatment….”
