TV change coming to northeast Georgia

To the chagrin of upstate South Carolina TV stations, the FCC will allow two northeast Georgia counties entry into the Atlanta designated market area, which means that TV viewers in both Elbert and Stephens counties can watch news and other shows programmed by Atlanta stations. Hart and Franklin counties earlier were approved for the Atlanta market area. The change would allow those living in what are considered “orphan” counties to receive broadcast signals from their home state instead of South Carolina. They won’t get immediate access to Atlanta stations. Carolina stations have filed for re-consideration, an d there’s no time frame for when re-consideration will be heard.
