Tuition fee freeze at Clemson

Clemson University’s Board of Trustees approved a plan today to freeze tuition and fees for the 2020-21 academic year for all students, both from in and out of state.  A decision on housing and dining fees is to be made in the near future. “Our Board is keenly aware of the financial impact the coronavirus pandemic is having on many of our students and their families,” said Clemson Board of Trustees Chairman Smyth McKissick.  This is the first time in years that Clemson has held the line on tuition fees. Factoring into the decision is South Carolina’s scholarship program. More than 99 percent of all incoming freshmen from South Carolina receive scholarship funding. Earlier this month, the board of trustees authorized more than $17 million in unused housing, dining and parking fees to students for the spring semester. The university previously announced a hiring freeze, reduction in travel expenses and other temporary budget cuts.
