Truck backup reported at the Rock Crusher

Two Oconee County councilmen say they are getting complaints of a customer service problem at the county’s Rock Quarry near Walhalla. One of the councilmen, Wayne McCall, says the problem dates back to the summer but has worsened in the last two days—resulting in truck drivers having to wait long times to buy crushed rock to haul to job sites. A second councilman, Glenn Hart, says he, too, is aware of the service complaints. McCall told 101.7/WGOG NEWS that he felt compelled to leave his job to go to the quarry to investigate what’s said to be trucks backed up waiting for service. One contractor, McCall said, showed him photographs. As a councilman, McCall described himself not authorized to make corrections, but he has reported the complaints to the office of Amanda Brock, county administrator. 101.7/WGOG NEWS reached out this afternoon to Brock for a comment and, at this airing, was waiting for a response. “This is a problem that has festered and festered since summer time, and nothing has been done about it,” McCall said.
