Tropical storm conditions

The 101.7/WGOG listening area has begun to feel the impact of the advancing tropical storm Zeta.  For the Golden Corner today, tropical storm conditions are possible.  Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before the 2 o’clock hour this afternoon, followed by 90% chance for showers and thunderstorms for the evening.  Additional rain between three-quarters of an inch and one inch possible.  Tonight the rain chance lowers to 20% with the chance for showers before midnight.  Temperatures will cool considerably tonight.  If you have to drive, watch out for the pools of water on the roadways and keep both hands on the wheel.  Already county dispatch is getting reports of trees down.  With a strong wind suspected, many trees and tree branches are liable to be in jeopardy today.  Because South Carolina bus safety rules limit the use of school buses during sustained winds of 30 miles an hour and higher or gusts of 40 miles an hour and higher, all Oconee public school children are to stay home today and do their school work by eLearning.  For families who have pre-ordered SDOC@Home meals, pick-up will remain as scheduled.
