Troopers will focus on impaired drivers

On the final, long weekend of summer, state troopers will fan out across South Carolina.  A spokesman says traffic checkpoints will be common.  They will concentrate on clearing the highways of traffic violators, especially those who drink and get behind the wheel.  Lance Corp. Joe Hovis says the initiative “The Deadliest Days of Summer” is winding down.  Hovis urges all motorists who decide to imbibe over the Labor Day weekend to arrange for an alternate, sober driver to ensure they reach their destinations safely.  “Otherwise,” he warns, “you might be riding with us.”
