Trial ends by a judge’s ruling

A mistrial was declared today in the Oconee Common Pleas Court in the case of Virginia Brady versus Alexander Newton. It’s a dispute over a motor vehicle accident. A court officer says the mistrial means the case will be placed back for another roster of civil court. One of the jurors contacted 101.7/WGOG and said, “As a Juror in the resent trial I would like to apologize to the plaintiff and court for causing a mistrial somehow. All 13 of us failed to hear the judge’s statement for us to not discuss the trial amongst ourselves. We knew not to talk outside the court room but not within the jury room, This in the future needs to be made clear and posted in the jury room. Thirteen of us wasted a day and a half along with the expense to the court.”
