Trial alleging medical negligence next month

A circuit judge and a set of attorneys agreed yesterday a civil lawsuit that alleges medical negligence will go to trial Tuesday, February 19 at the Oconee Courthouse. In the meantime, Common Pleas Judge Lawton McIntosh took under advisement a defendant’s motion for summary judgment in favor of the Oconee Medical Center. The attorneys yesterday argued whether the hospital’s actions in the treatment of a patient’s detached retina should be part of the trial. The plaintiff contends a delay in her treatment led to the loss of vision in her left eye. Plaintiff in the case is Camille Hess. The defendants are Oconee Medical Center and Dr. Miles McGuff of Blue Ridge Emergency Physicians.
