Tree cutter dead after golf course accident

A tree cutter on a golf course has died after being injured in an incident under investigation by the Pickens County coroner and other law enforcement agencies. Coroner Kandy Kelley said Cliffs employee Benjamin Wood was pronounced dead at the Cannon Memorial Hospital yesterday after being hurt when cutting down a tree on at a Keowee Springs Course. He was 32 years old and a Pendleton resident. An autopsy will take place. Besides the coroner, the death is being investigated by OSHA and the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.  Earlier accounts incorrectly reported the scene was the Keowee Key Country Club.  It was, in fact, the Keowee Springs Golf Course.
