Traumatic injury on the Foothills Trail

An airlift for medical attention was required yesterday in the vicinity of the Foothills Trail, north of Mountain Rest, for an individual who apparently was part of a crew removing trees and debris created by Tropical Storm Irma.  Crews from Mountain Rest Fire and Rescue went to the Big Bend area on the Chattooga River and required five hours to complete the call.  A helicopter from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources was used during the rescue.
