Why the transfer station is to close for one week

Walhalla sanitation customers are being advised to expect a delay of up to two days in their trash pickups later this month, during the week of April 26-30.  The county’s solid waste transfer station will be closed that week to allow for the replacement of the floor of the transfer station.  As a result, a longer turnaround time could affect trash routes.  As an example, city of Walhalla crews will be faced with hauling what they collect directly to out-of-county landfills.  The city of Walhalla states:  “We ask that customers be patient as we will do our best to have trash receptacles emptied as quickly as possible.  Roll carts should be placed on the curb on your regularly scheduled day.”
