Tracking what became of $250 thousand

A Walhalla councilman says city money that was thought to have been inappropriately spent was actually appropriately spent.  Keith Pace, chairman of the city budget and general government committees, made the announcement last night.  The money that Pace referred to was $250 thousand of the city’s share of its rebate of excess revenues held by the Joint Regional Sewer Authority.  Pace credited three city officials with tracking down the money that led to an investigation that started last month.  The JRSA returned millions of dollars last year to its three Oconee County municipality members, with the understanding that the money is to be spent on sewer costs.  Pace explained that the money was calculated as part of the city’s new budget to ensure that expense and revenue projections were balanced.
