Tornado safety contest time

The period of the next few weeks is the time for Oconee students in the primary grades to get creative as they draw posters that carry a message of stay safe from the wrath of high winds brought on by tornadoes.  Scott Krein, county emergency services manager, invites students in grades 1-6 to get out standard poster paper and craft depictions that stress the theme of “Tornado Safety” by depicting protective actions. Schools are encouraged to participate, however, any eligible student may submit an entry regardless of whether his or her school officially participates in the contest. Entries should be submitted to the office of Emergency Services no later than February 14.  Winners from each grade level will receive certificates and cash prizes.
