Three-county coalition attacks joblessness and disabilities

A three-county coalition headed by Seneca native Mike Cannon spread the word Friday for the advantages of hiring those with disabilities.  Cannon helped create the coalition Foothills CAN which invited employers to hear how the disabled can be reliable and effective members of their workforce.  Representatives of Schneider Electric and Walgreen were among those companies represented at a luncheon meeting at the Seneca Water Plant facility.  “They got to the hear the message from Stephen Scruggs about what a benefit it is to Schneider Electric to employ folks from out special needs spectrum,” Cannon told 101.7/WGOG NEWS after Friday’s meeting.  Another speaker, Steve Finger, explained how the Ride to Work Ministry helps Oconeeans who lack transportation get to work and eventually establish transportation for their own.
