Three arrested in search for wanted susspect

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested three subjects Wednesday during a search for a wanted suspect.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division conducted warrant services yesterday at two separate locations in Oconee County in their search for 26 year old Zachery David Fields, who was wanted on multiple charges related to a pursuit Tuesday afternoon near Westminster.

The first warrant service occurred early Wednesday afternoon at an address on Little Choestoea Road in southern Oconee County near Foxwood Hills.  At that location, 36 year old Dennis Andrew Dobson was located and placed into custody.  Dobson was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 7:20am Thursday on a Probation Violation warrant.

The second warrant service occurred an address on Edgewood Drive, which is near the Tokeena Crossroads.  At that location, Fields was taken into custody and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 9:38pm Wednesday on the outstanding warrants from the Sheriff’s Office as well as a Municipal Court Bench Warrant from Seneca.

Fields was charged with one count each of Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Driving under Suspension, Reckless Driving, Passing Unlawfully, Malicious Injury to Real Property, Unattended Vehicle and Resisting Arrest after Fields was discovered by an investigator Tuesday afternoon operating a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser on East North Avenue at Westminster Highway near Westminster.

The investigator attempted a traffic stop due to the fact that Fields driver’s license was currently suspended.  Fields increased the speed of the vehicle and did not pull the vehicle over, ignoring the blue lights and the siren, and did pass a vehicle on a double yellow line.  A pursuit ensued that ended on Wisteria Lane with Fields turning into a field, causing damage to a fence and pasture, and then jumping out of the vehicle while it was still running, eluding deputies on foot.  A passenger in the vehicle with Fields was released from the scene with no charges filed.

During the search for Fields on Tuesday, Orchard Park Elementary School was placed on a Code Yellow as a precaution and additional deputies were on campus during dismissal Tuesday afternoon to provide additional security.

During the second warrant service on Edgewood Drive, 25 year old James Dillon McCutcheon was also arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant on charges of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.  According to the arrest warrant, McCutcheon was charged with providing alcohol to a 17 year old female in March of 2018, which caused her to become intoxicated and pass out.

At this time, all three subjects remain in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center.  Fields has been given a combined $21,140.00 surety bond on the Sheriff’s Office charges.  McCutcheon has been given a $5,000 surety bond.  Dobson was given a $15,000 surety bond at his bond hearing.
