Thorsland extended, given 5% pay boost

Oconee school trustees say they are well pleased by the work done by the district superintendent, Dr. Michael Thorsland. After a closed-door evaluation meeting, Board Chairman Jerry Lee announced that Thorsland will get a two-year extension to his contract, along with a five percent increase in salary. The annual evaluation of the superintendent covered seven major areas and 63 sub-areas of performance. Lee says Thorsland met or exceeded standards in all areas. The five percent increase will apply both to Thorsland’s annual salary of $151,929, as well as a 17% contribution to his annuity—or a total package of $177,756.
