This Veteran’s Day is a parade day in Seneca

Oconee County veterans have resurrected an annual staple of events.  That’s the annual parade of veterans through the streets of the county’s largest municipalities to commemorate Veteran’s Day.  And this year Veteran’s Day will fall on Thursday, November 11. At 4:30 pm year’s parade will roll through downtown Seneca.  Senecan Gene Nicholson, a Korea war veteran, will serve as parade grand marshal and lead off the procession.  Already, says Jerry Dyar of the Veterans Council, there’s a sizable number of entries for the parade.  But everyone is encouraged to put together hand-made signs and posters that acknowledge the sacrifices of Oconee veterans in the service of the country.  Special emphasis is placed on civic, school, church, and commercial businesses to be in the parade.  Also, a place in the parade is reserved for vintage military vehicles.
