This is Fire Prevention Week in Walhalla

Mayor Danny Edwards has proclaimed this week Fire Prevention Week in Walhalla.  Fire prevention is a subject that the city fire department feels strongly about.  In 2019 alone, according to the National Fire Protection Association, more than 27-hundred people in the U-S were killed because of house fires.  Fire prevention, proper planning and working smoke detectors can help save lives.  Smoke detectors can alarm well before an alert person can detect fire or smoke coming from a fire inside a home, and that gives valuable time to escape safely without harm or smoke inhalation.  Since 2019, Walhalla Fire Department has installed more than 40 smoke/CO detectors.  For more information on alarms and fire prevention, contact the department at 638-4345.
