There’s no “Lt. Kyle Davis” at Oconee Sheriff’s Office

Oconee Sheriff’s Office received many reports yesterday of a law enforcement scam.  Sheriff Crenshaw says someone has been calling county residents claiming to be “Lt. Kyle Davis” warning them that they’ve missed jury duty.  “First of all, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office does not have an employee named ‘Kyle Davis'”, according to Master Deputy Jimmy Watt and public information officer for the sheriff’s office. Law enforcement scams of this type usually revolve around paying money to avoid being arrested or having charges dropped.  Watt says if you get a call from someone claiming to be from law enforcement, who requests money to have a charge dropped or a warrant recalled, it is a scam.  Under any circumstances, law enforcement will never accept money to have charges dropped.
