The potential for a two-to-three day trial

The office of the Oconee Clerk of Court has summoned 175 county residents to make up the jury pool for next week’s term of the Common Pleas Court in Walhalla.  The 175 are to report for duty as the jury pool for the case of Stokes v. Oconee County et al.  It’s a case that has been seven years in the pre-trial stage.  Just recently, the county council voted to pursue a resolution. Filed for former county building official David Stokes, the suit alleges wrongful termination after he balked at granting then councilwoman Edda Cammick a building permit for a carport on her property.  Court officers estimate the trial could take two or three days.  Judge McIntosh is scheduled to preside.
