Students are several weeks away from completing Tri-County Technical College’s Level I Power Lineman and Heavy Equipment certification classes but employment data indicates they will have no problem filling these in-demand jobs advertised throughout the state. South Carolina employment data indicates the job market is wide open and employers are looking to fill new positions and openings created by a retiring workforce.

Demand.com reports there are currently 70 job openings for Power Lineman in the state of South Carolina. Linked In is advertising 90 slots in-state, ranging from entry level to experienced.

Following the final Power Lineman class on October 23, students who have completed the 14-week course will showcase their skills to potential employers at a rodeo set for 9 a.m. – noon at TTI on Highway 28 in Anderson.
Potential employers attending the rodeo will be Duke Energy, Blue Ridge, Seneca Light and Water, Sumter Utilities, Pike Electric, Easley Combined Utilities and Utility Partners.
The rodeo will serve as a demonstration of the students’ power lineman skills obtained during their classroom and skills training. Graduates will demonstrate pole climbing, pole top rescue, naming material, demo digging and setting poles, hanging insulators, switching and underground work.
