The need for blood donations

Prisma Health and The Blood Connection (TBC) are partnering to host community blood drives in the Upstate through December. Prisma Health, a hospital system that relies on the generosity of the Upstate community for blood donations, is working with The Blood Connection to bring awareness to blood donation during a time of urgent need. TBC typically sees a dip in donations during the holiday season, which jeopardizes the local blood supply. Blood products are used every day in local hospitals to save lives, so it is vital for the community to continue donating blood. TBC is the exclusive blood provider for ALL Upstate hospitals, including Prisma Health. COVID-19 antibody testing is included with all blood donations. Donors will also receive a $20 VISA card.

The most recent blood drive coming up is in Simpsonville at Upstate Karate. TBC is encouarging donors to make an appointment. Precautions are in place to keep donors safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
