The Keowee Key dollar impact

The home development Keowee Key is beginning to show its age, enough to require some upgrades to keep it a popular haven for hundreds of retirees and others. Now 43 years old, the Key is getting new gates at its main entrances and new water lines on the south section of the development. Project manager Kevin McCracken today gave some examples of why a home development for those of an age who require few county services is not only good to the county but good to the overall economy. One example is in the field of home re-sales, which means money jingling in the pockets of realtors who make the deals. Another is the taxes paid by the residents and general spending by those residents, by their property owners group, and by the development’s utilities system.
