“The Compound is no more” — according to councilman

Seneca’s representative to Oconee County Council, Paul Cain, says a symbolic victory has been scored today with the demolition of a structure in the Utica Community that has been a headache to law enforcement and a nuisance to the community of the former textile community.  We understand a lot machinery noise was sounded as the structure at 16 Padgett Street was torn down.  By buying the property, county government can dictate what happens there in the future, and Cain says some ideas have already been floated about the possibility of a community food site or an addiction counseling center.  The District Three councilman predicts that’ll be up for discussion soon among the five county councilmen.
