The check’s in the mail

By Friday, the chief finance officer for Oconee public schools expects the school district will be infused with millions of dollars with which to pay bills and retire debt. Gloria Moore says she expects the office of county Treasurer Greg Nowell to transfer the district’s share of the 2018 Duke tax payment, after the county draws one month interest on the Duke payment made by the first deadline to pay without penalty. According to Moore, the school district believes it will receive $17.5 million for operating purposes and $4 million to apply to its debt service fund.
