The Bailey bill” and what it can do for Oconee

Oconee County received a feeler from a company representative inquiring as to whether the county had adopted something called the “Bailey bill.”  County Council members learned from Annie Caggiano what this bill can do during a committee meeting, Caggiano, president of the Oconee Economic Alliance, remarked that it was a developer making the inquiry.  On Tuesday, Caggiano told the county’s planning and economic development committee that the Bailey bill makes possible tax abatements to encourage re-habilitating of historic or low-income properties, or both.  This sounds promising to Julian Davis.  The District Four councilman says the condition of certain properties across the country make dim prospects to revive them and, in certain cases, turn them into livable areas, and he’s encouraged about what the law could do for Oconee efforts.
