The advent of road-paving season

Winds often blow in March.  The month also can foretell temperatures warm enough for the area’s road pavers to kick into gear.  The sight of road crews at work to smooth out part of SC 11 in front of the Davenport Funeral Home this week is a sign that motorists and the public should know that, in the next few months, the state DOT and its contractors will resume the task of re-paving many of the state’s highways.  One example is the contract for a long section of 11 in Oconee County from just south of West Union to the Critter Road.  The contractor there is King Asphalt of Liberty, and King Asphalt’s Marty McKee is talking about the need for everyone to keep in mind the mantra of “Let “em work, let ’em live” in and around road construction locations.
