That Westminster-Blue Ridge deal effective today

The management agreement between Westminster and the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative is now on the books.  The deal is now effective, after city council last night gave a final reading to a contract in which the city can leverage Blue Ridge expertise to operate, maintain, and manage the city’s electric power system.  As a member of a regional consortium of municipalities, Westminster buys its electric power from Greer-based PMPA.  Is the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency on board with the arrangement?  Here’s a statement this morning Kevin Bronson, city administrator:  “As for PMPA, we kept them in the loop as we created the agreement.  The PMPA attorney ‘signed off’ on the agreement – essentially he said verbally he did not believe it was inconsistent with the PMPA contracts.”
