Test positivity jumps to 36.5%

In a 24-hour period that ended after 11:59 on Tuesday night, South Carolina DHEC recorded 35,594 new tests done to detect COVID-19.  Of that number, 36.5% of those tests produced positive results.  The omicron variant is being blamed for the current spike in virus cases, but Dr. Fauci predicts the U-S will have past the peak of that variant by the middle of next month.  He thinks the peaks would come and go in different parts of the country at different times, but predicted the last of it would be mid-February.
