Tennessean identified as I-85 chase suspect

A Tennessee man is awaiting extradition to Franklin County, Georgia after he led authorities on a high-speed chase into Oconee County that ended in Anderson County, South Carolina. According to WLHR Lavonia, 34-year old Julius Marshall O’Brian Bowling of Johnson City is currently being held in the Anderson County Detention Center facing multiple charges in Franklin County and Anderson. Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas said the incident started about 2p Tuesday near the weigh station when Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies tried to stop a black Honda Acura for speeding on I-85 northbound. As deputies approached, Thomas said Bowling put it into high-gear reaching 90-mph by the time he went under the Exit 173 overpass. The chase continued up 85 and as the pursuit reached Exit 4 in Oconee County, SC speeds were clocked near 130-mph, according to the Sheriff. Bowling continued to speed up the Interstate, but Thomas said his deputies, along with deputies from the Anderson County Sheriff’s office, were able to box the Acura in and Bowling gave up. After a brief struggle Bowling was taken into custody.
