Tamassee’s new residential program is official

The new residential program for mothers and their children at the Tamassee DAR School became official Saturday afternoon with the announcement made during welcome and opening ceremony for the 2021 Founders Day program for a school tucked away in northern Oconee where, for more than 100 years, has educated the under-served and under-privileged of Appalachia.  The Rev. Jon Holland, school CEO, said first phase of the program will start in January when the DAR school will open its cottages to up to 10 families to counsel mothers with substance problems and allow them and their children to heal together in a faith-based program.  Tennessee’s Blue Monarch program has given the Tamassee DAR School the inspiration to help afflicted mothers of Tamassee’s multi-county region the chance to get sober and to rear their children in a safe, loving environment.
