Talking up a tax proposition

At least four community meetings are in the planning stages of the Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department to help explain and muster support for its referendum in November.  As part of the General Election, the question of accepting higher property taxes to create a 24/7 paid fire station will be a referendum to be decided by Oconee County voters inside the Corinth-Shiloh service territory.  If successful, Corinth-Shiloh will join the Keowee Fire Department as the only paid stations serving unincorporated sections of the county.  Kevin Christenbury, Corinth-Shiloh’s volunteer chief, says the community meetings will take place September 14, October 5, October 14, and November 3.
