Taking true love’s measure in a COVID year

Without question, Oconee’s judge of probate believes that in the COVID-19 year of 2020, matrimony took a hit.  At least from the vantage point of Probate Judge Kenny Johns and his staff.  The office reports these matrimonial numbers:  552 marriage licenses were issued.  That’s only 10 fewer than 2019.  The real difference came in the number of ceremonies that the probate judges performed.  In 2019, 240 couples recited their vows in the office.  In COVID 2020, the number of ceremonies dropped to 135.
