Swimming curtailed at the YMCA

This statement from Christle Ross of the Foothills YMCA: “We are being impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The YMCA is open at this time and taking extra precautions in the facility to clean and encourage our members to clean equipment before and after use, wash hands and stay home if you are not well. We have added extra wipe stations and hand sanitizer around the facility. Programs for at risk populations, soccer, swim lessons and after school programs are now postponed until it is safe to resume. We will follow guidelines from DHEC and are in daily communications with other YMCA’s across the state to assess needs and strategize to fill gaps. As an organization our mission is to serve. The coming days may change how we serve. We are assessing needs and resources now. Some of the conversations are around being a feeding site or providing childcare for emergency/hospital staff but ultimately, the health and safety of our community, members and staff is primary our concern.
