Saws used to steal precious metals

Someone used saws to steal catalytic converters from two Oconee County businesses. The thefts last weekend at a West Union construction company and at the Tribble Activity Center near Seneca are being investigated by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office. Investigator David McMahan says the thieves are looking for metal that they can sell to recyclers. In last weekend’s incidents, McMahan suggests, the thieves were misguided. They picked on older vehicles whose catalytic converter materials are not bringing much value in the recycling markets.
