Suspect turns himself over to authorities

The suspect that Oconee Sheriff’s Office looked for in a theft case early Saturday at a home between Seneca and Clemson was placed into custody later that day. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Zachary Jordan Vanwingerden turned himself in and was booked into the jail. The 25-year old Greenville man is charged with stealing a car and a dog at a home on Forest Drive near 123. Both dog and car have been retrieved. The black lab has been returned to its owners. The car is being processed for evidence. Part of the evidence is a video taken that outside the home at 2:45 in the morning Saturday that shows a man getting into a white car in the driveway, backing up, stopping, getting out, and then dragging a dog into the car.
