Suspect ID’d in officer-involved shooting

A Seneca man has been identified by the state police as the suspect in the gunfire that erupted yesterday between the suspect and an Oconee deputy sheriff not far from Keowee Key.  “SLED”—the state Law Enforcement Division—says a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Christopher Lee O’Donald.  The incident started when the Oconee deputy became suspicious about a Chevy Avalanche in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank on SC 130 and led to a chase into Pickens County where the car stopped and its driver escaped on foot.  No injuries have been reported. The incident was the 24th officer-involved shooting this year in South Carolina.  Last year, there were 49 officer-involved shootings in the state, but none in Oconee County.
