Suspect apprehended after Seneca to Walhalla chase

A Memorial Day shoplifting incident at the Seneca Wal-mart sent Oconee sheriff’s officers on a chase of the suspect’s car, a pursuit that eventually made its way into Walhalla and ended when the driver gave up and surrendered at the dead end of Bulwinkle Drive.  Multiple charges have been filed against Greenville resident Leon Brooks Jr.  According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy was alerted to a Wal-mart shoplifting and an incident in which a car passenger loaded the back of an Acura MDX with items and drove off across the parking lot with the hatch still up.  Multiple items fell onto the pavement, and a deputy identified them as stolen goods from the store.  At one point, according to the sheriff’s office, the suspect car and driver were stopped on Professional Park Drive, but the driver took off again just as deputies tried to remove him from the car.  That’s when, the pursuit resumed.
