Stokes appeals pre-trial rulings

A court that is tasked with deciding issues of law and equity has been asked to intervene in pre-trial issues that involve the case of a former Oconee building department head against his former employers. Attorneys for David Stokes have given notice they are appealing to the South Carolina Court of Appeals rulings at the pre-trial level by 10th Circuit Judge Lawton McIntosh. And with those appeals went any chance for an Oconee Courthouse trial next week on the remaining issues. Sources close to the case now believe the resolution of Stokes’ wrongful termination lawsuit is delayed indefinitely while the appeals by Stokes’ Pawleys Island’s lawyers make their way through the Columbia court’s docket. In late spring, the plaintiff’s side was dealt a blow when McIntosh ruled that the defendants Wayne McCall and Edda Cammick may not be sued individually outside their capacities with the Oconee County Council.
