Stay home, even if you think you might be sick

Bottom line, according to the Oconee superintendent of education, is that if anyone think he or she could have COVD-19, or any other communicable sickness, he or she should stay home.  That’s part of a reply we received from Dr. Michael Thorsland to a question received here at 101.7/WGOG.  The question was:  “If a school district employee has an in-family member that awakens with symptoms of COVID-19, is that employee permitted to come to work that day?”  Here’s the complete reply to that question from Thorlsland:  “All families and staff members should complete a wellness assessment prior to coming to school during this school year.  We are asking families to be extra cautious due to the pandemic.  At the same time, families and staff members will have to exercise their own judgment.  The bottom line is that anyone thinks they could have COVID-19 or any other communicable disease, they should stay home.  If any person within a household tests positive for COVID-19, then the other family members would need to quarantine or provide a negative test result.”
