State lawmaker says first step is a cop in every school

State Representative Bill Sandifer remains convinced that walk-thru metal detectors will be added to South Carolina’s public schools.  But first the Seneca Republican says a school resource officer in every school in the state is the priority.  For two years, Oconee’s public schools have maintained SROs in all of its student buildings, but that’s not the case in all of the state’s schools.  Yesterday Sandifer called attention to Governor McMaster’s request for enough money to station SROs in every school.  And, after that, at some point in the future, Sandifer doesn’t rule out the idea of walk-thru metal detectors as a further protection to students and staff against someone bringing a weapon into a school building.
