State eyes Oconee highway to NC for rehab

A South Carolina state highway, from the North Carolina line, into Oconee County is on schedule to be included in next week’s contract letting by the South Carolina DOT.  It’s two-lane Highway 107 from the Fish Hatchery Road to the North Carolina line south of Cashiers, a distance of 3.39 miles.  Funds for the work are to be provided by state monies allocated to Oconee’s State “C” Fund Committee.  The committee was told last month that the budget for the project is $1.6 M. If awarded on Tuesday, November 9, the contractor will have until August 30, 2022 to finish the job.
