State agencies named defendants in Oconee lawsuit

Senior Solutions and the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services are defendants in an Oconee County civil lawsuit arising from a wheelchair accident nearly two years ago.  The lawsuit filed yesterday in the Common Pleas Court by Spartanburg attorney Andrew Evans on behalf of the estate of Araceli Gomez Lara.  It seeks actual and punitive damages in an amount to be determined at trial.  Negligence and wrongful death are alleged.  The suit alleges “The agent and/or employee of Defendants negligently, grossly negligently, and recklessly pushed Decedent in the wheelchair, causing her to be thrown out of the wheelchair onto her knees, thereby causing severe injury, eventual amputation of a limb, and ultimately the death of the Decedent.”
