SSgt. Sidney Sorrells, USAF Ret. & Carolyn Sorrells

Seneca– SSgt Sidney Paul Sorrells, USAF Ret., 70, passed away, Saturday, September 11th, 2021, and Carolyn Sue Monroe Sorrells, 68, passed away Sunday, September 12th, 2021 at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

Natives of Oconee County, Sidney was the son of Paul Stancil Sorrells and Virginia Marie Jones Sorrells. He was a retired United States Air Force Veteran and an active member of Utica Baptist Church after retirement. Sidney was involved with the missions, security and was the head of the bus maintenance and a member of the Charles McGee Byrd Post 120 American Legion. She was the daughter of Charles C. Monroe and Ollie Belle Price Monroe. Carolyn worked at DHL and later at Bi-Lo and was an active member of Utica Baptist Church. Much like Sidney, Carolyn was very involved with actives at Utica Baptist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher, involved with children’s ministry, AWANA, Good News Club, and missions.

 

Sidney and Carolyn are survived by their son, Brandon Sorrells, USMC Ret. and wife Anngie of Yuma, Arizona; a daughter, Stacey Kolb and husband Edward of Piedmont, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Ethan Kolb, Sarah Kolb, Aiden Sorrells, Braelyn Sorrells, and Camryn Sorrells. Sidney is survived by his two brothers, Dennis Sorrells and Anthony Wayne Sorrells (Ann). Carolyn is survived by her two brothers, Ronald Monroe and David Monroe.

 

Sidney is preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Lou Sorrells. Carolyn is preceded in death by her sister Selena M. Charles.

 

 A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, September 16th, 2021 at Utica Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to the service at Utica Baptist Church. A private committal service will be held at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, South Carolina.
