Sonia Fagg

West Union – Sonia Lee Smiley Ellis Fagg, 76, loving wife of the late ABEC Ronald Leroy Fagg, and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 12th, 2021, while surrounded by her family.

 

She was born in Seattle, WA, and spent her formative years in Akron, OH with her twin sister, Nina: while being raised by her stepmother Elizabeth Harris. She moved to New Jersey as a young adult along with her four young children, and this is where she met Ronald, where they were married, and together they raised their family in Manchester, NJ.

 

Sonia attended Ocean County College in Toms River, NJ where she received her Associates Degree, and from there went to work for Ocean County Board of Social Services for 26 years before retiring and moving to West Union, SC.

 

She spent the last 13 years enjoying her retirement as she worked on her many gardening projects, doing many beautiful watercolor paintings in her studio, working on many craft projects, and spending fun quality time with her family.

 

Sonia was a member of the Artlaws of Oconee County Art Club, as well as being a charter member and lifetime plank owner of the Aviation Boatswain Mates Association.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Leroy Fagg, her mother Ellen Warner, and her furry friend and companion, Chili.

 

She is survived by her four caring and loving children; Edward Ennis Ellis and his wife, Kim of Winnipeg, Canada, Tanya Elizabeth Adkins and her husband Dale of Mountain Rest, SC, David Steve Ellis Sr. and his wife, Lori of Knightdale, NC, and Lyle Ellis and his wife, Sophy of Orange, CA.; she is also survived by her wonderful grandchildren, William Ellis, child of Edward, Kelly Berrios and Ronald Starling, children of Tanya, Katherine and David Jr., children of David Sr., Tyler, child of Lyle, and Brianna, child of Dale; as well as her “adopted” daughter (also her favorite, according to Donna) Donna Argento and her husband Jerry; her three stepdaughters, Regina Cuoto and her husband Hank of Staunton, VA, Katina Warren of Staunton, VA, and Ronica Holder of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves behind her siblings: her very close twin sister Nina Clark and her husband Jim, her sister Gene Ann DePasquale and her husband Sam, her sister Ellen Gravatt and her husband John, brothers, William Warner and his wife Diane, and Gene Smiley, her three kitties, Frankie, Gypsy and Shadow. She also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a bunch of extended family, and a world full of people whose lives were made a touch brighter and a little bit happier by the time they spent with her.

 

We love you, Mom and we will miss you very much!

 

A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM, Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
